NOTICE OF PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD
The Central/Western Maine Workforce Investment Board will hold a Public Comment Period to consider written comments pertaining to the Workforce Investment Act Five Year Strategic Plan (The Plan) developed for the counties comprised of Local Area three (Androscoggin, Franklin, Kennebec, Oxford, Somerset). The Plan addresses employment and training services funded by the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) of 1998 and delivered primarily through the American Job Center Network/Western Maine Community Action & the Maine Department of Labor. WIA provides the framework for an improved workforce preparation and employment system designed to meet the needs of the nation's businesses, adults, and youth.
This document was published in response to the State of Maine's Workforce Investment Act guidelines. Once finalized and adopted, The Plan will be used to continue Employment and Training Services under the Workforce Investment Act. The DRAFT Plan will be available March 12, 2014, and can be downloaded at www.mainefocus.org. The public comment period is sponsored by the Central/Western Maine Workforce Investment Board and will be held from March 12, 2014, through April 11, 2014.
All comments should be submitted in writing to the Central/Western Maine Workforce Investment Board, 5 Mollison Way, Lewiston, ME 04240 and be received by 3:00pm on April 11, 2014 or postmarked by April 11, 2014. Emailed or faxed comments will not be considered.

WIA 5-Year Local Strategic Plan
The Central/Western Maine Workforce Investment Board Five-Year Comprehensive Strategy is available for review and the public comment period is now open on March 12, 2014 until April 11, 2014. The red numbering in the draft plan corresponds with the Local Plan Guidance and Instructions.
